If you are looking for a TMJ dentist in Atlanta please Consider Dr. Mark Allan Padolsky. TMJ Dysfunction is a very misunderstood problem and this makes it difficult to diagnosis and treat. One example of the misunderstanding surrounding this disorder is the name. Most people refer to the disorder as TMJ, which stands for Temporo-mandibular joint. If you are talking about the disorder of the TMJ joints it is TMJD. Yet even this is problematic because the D in TMJD can be Dysfunction, Disorder or Disease, depending on who you talk to.

Do not mistake a TMJ dentist for a TMJ specialist. There is no such thing as a TMJ specialist since the American Dental Association does not recognize this area as a dental specialty. However, Dr. Padolsky has been treating TMJ Disorder for 26 years. He has taught TMJ post doctorate continuing education courses for both the University of Alabama School of Dentistry and the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry. He even received a Fellowship from the Atlanta Craniomandibular Society in 1990 as well as from the American Orthodontic Society in 2000.

Dr. Padolsky is a TMJ dentist who has spent years developing a TMJ program for treatment. Part of the problem with TMJD is that there are multiple causes of TMJD and treatment depends on the cause. For most patients the cause of TMJ problems is an incorrect bite that places stress on the joints and muscles surrounding them. Treatment should begin with the relaxing the jaw muscles to prevent TMJ pain then finding the patient's correct occlusion. When the alignment of the bite is correct it relieves the pressure on the joints. This allows the muscles to relax naturally on their own and allows the joints to heal.

Dr. Mark Allan Padolsky is an Atlanta TMJ Dentist who enjoys helping his patients find their cause of TMJ problems. Of course, you are welcome to join his family of patients to learn more about your TMJD. He offers both initial (Phase 1) TMJ treatment and can also restore the bite if a patient desires it (Phase 2).
